Our History and Organization
In May 1998, a group of people interested in preserving the history of the Pine Island area gathered at the Economic Development Association (EDA) office. The first meeting of the Pine Island Area Historical Society was held on September 12, 1998.
After several years of meetings held at the EDA office, churches and the school as well as storing our artifacts in different locations, our goal was accomplished. In 2005, we purchased the current History Center.
The Pine Island Area Historical Society is an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1998 and governed by members via a Board of Directors. Each year we, together with our volunteers, provide presentations, educational and outreach programs, special events, museum exhibits, and more.
Pine Island Area Historical Society is a member of the following organizations:
Minnesota State Historical Society
Goodhue County History Center
Oronoco History Center
Pine Island Area Chamber of Commerce
